Privacy Policy

Hero's Homeroom (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a classroom management tool built for elementary school teachers. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

We never sell student data. We never use student data for advertising. Ever.

1. Information We Collect

Teachers

When you sign in with Google or create an email/password account, we receive your email address and, if signing in with Google, your name and profile picture. We use this only to create and manage your account.

Students

Student accounts are created by teachers. We store first names, last initials, hero type selections, and game progress data (XP, gold, gems, level, equipped items, and pets). We do not collect student email addresses, passwords, or any personally identifying information beyond a first name and last initial.

Student login is handled via a simple numeric code set by the teacher. No student email addresses are collected or required.

Email Sign-ups

If you submit your email address via our “Stay in the loop” form, we store it to send you product updates. You can request removal at any time by emailing us.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to operate Hero's Homeroom. Specifically:

• Teacher email addresses are used for authentication and to contact you about your account.
• Student data is used to power the in-app RPG experience.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. FERPA

Hero's Homeroom is designed to help schools and teachers comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). When a teacher uses Hero's Homeroom with their students, the school controls the student education records. We act as a “school official” under FERPA — we access student data only to provide the service, under the direction of the school, and do not disclose it to third parties.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Hero's Homeroom is designed for use in elementary school classrooms. Student accounts are created and managed by teachers — students do not sign up independently and do not provide any personal information directly to us. No student data is shared with third parties or used for advertising.

Under COPPA, parents and guardians have the right to review the personal information collected about their child, request corrections, and request deletion. To exercise these rights, contact the teacher who manages your child's account, or reach us directly at support@heroshomeroom.com and we will respond promptly.

If you believe a student's data has been collected without appropriate authorization, please contact us immediately at support@heroshomeroom.com.

5. Data Retention

Student and class data is retained as long as the associated teacher account is active. Teachers can delete individual students or entire classes at any time from within the app. If you close your teacher account or request deletion, we will remove all associated data within 30 days.

6. Teacher Rights

As a teacher, you can delete your classes and student data at any time from within the app. You may also contact us to request deletion of your account and all associated data.

7. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely via Supabase, a hosted database platform. Data is stored in the United States. We apply industry-standard access controls to protect your information.

8. Security and Breach Notification

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. In the event of a data breach affecting personal information, we will notify affected users within 72 hours of becoming aware of the incident.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Hero's Homeroom:

• Supabase — database and authentication hosting
• Vercel — web hosting and deployment
• Google OAuth — optional sign-in method for teachers

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
